Tuan Chau Island and Tuan Chau Harbor
In feudal times, the royal army set up a guard station here to patrol and defend the borderland. The name of Tuần Châu is a combination between ‘linh TUAN’ (the patrolman) and ‘tri CHAU’ (district chief).
Covered by palm forests, Tuần Châu island has an area of 2.2 km2, and to the east and south are two man-made beaches endowed with very white, fine sand. Nowadays, Tuần Châu Island is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Hạ Long. It includes attractions such as the dolphin, sea lion, and performing-seal club, animal circus club, golf course, cultural-sports center, beach, rural market, ornamental fish lake, restaurants, villas, and guesthouses by the beach.
Furthermore, Tuan Chau is located in an important position at the entrance of the waterway system. That’s why Tuan Chau Harbour was built—to develop Ha Long’s economy and tourism. From Tuan Chau Harbour, it will be easier to visit Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba Island Biosphere Reserve by cruise. Our Amethyst Cruise also starts the trip from Tuan Chau Harbour at 10 a.m.
Dog Rock, Duck Rock, Thumb Rock
Dog Rock is about 8m high, like a giant gatekeeper stone dog. Stone dogs are a very familiar image of Vietnamese people, because on both sides of the gates of old houses, there are pairs of stone dogs. Hon Cho Da is located at the entrance gate of Ha Long Bay, considered by fishermen as a protective mascot for fishermen on the bay.
Additionally, there are a few other rocks in the bay that were naturally formed into unique shapes, such as Duck Rock, Thumb Rock, Dinh Huong Rock, Cock Fighting Rock,… Each rock will have a special story associated with it that has been handed down orally by fishermen from generation to generation. Visitors will learn these amazing stories while exploring Ha Long Bay with Amethyst Cruise.
Sung Sot Cave (Surprising Cave)
Sung Sot Cave is one of the largest and most impressive caves, with an area of over 10,000 square meters, and is situated on Bo Hon Island.. French tourists were the first to explore Sung Sot Cave and named it “Grotte des surprises” because they were astounded by the cave’s incredible beauty.
Along the 500-meter paved passageway inside the cave, there are thousands of stalactites and stalagmites. This is a picture of the harmony of nature, with birds chirping, plants flourishing, and monkeys foraging for food that will be visible to you.
Luon Cave
Luon cave is one of the most beautiful cave can be found on Bo hon Island . Even though Luon Cave is smaller than the other caves in Halong Bay, sea wind and water have been forming it for millions of years. Together with water flow, the tide’s effects gradually erode the limestone mountain’s foot, creating a sizable natural tunnel. This is the Luon Cave that we can see nowadays.
Up to now, we still can see the remains of the ocean on the mountain cliffs. The fossil shells of oysters, snails and crabs are the evidence for the life that existed there millions of years ago. The sea level used to be higher than it is now, and Luon Cave was an underwater cave.
Titop Island (Titov Island)
Titop Island, a part of Halong Bay, is well-known for its picturesque surroundings and tropical climate. Titop Beach is a must-visit location for travelers to discover Halong Bay because of these factors, especially for those who enjoy Vietnam’s natural beauty.
The name Titov was used in 1962, when Ho Chi Minh visited the island with Soviet astronaut Gherman Titov. And then he decided to give the island the name Titov. As a result, the name “Titov” emerged and came to represent the friendship between Vietnam and the USSR.
Titov appears to have an inclined slope on one side and a steep slope on the other from above. This beach is favored by beautiful nature and has a moon-like form and pure white sand. Its water is consistently clean and blue, making the pebbles on the sandy bottom apparent.
There are many relaxing activities for travelers to enjoy on the beautiful island. You can choose swimming, climbing, or laying on the beach to enjoy this peaceful island. Titov Island has become a must-stopover in Halong Bay as a result of all these geographical elements.
